SUBARU BOXER technologies:
powering pleasure to new highs.

Building on the inherent advantages of the Horizontally-Opposed SUBARU BOXER's low mounting and enhanced driving stability, these engines lift your enjoyment to new levels - especially with the free-revving flexibility of the DOHC's sporty power. The 6-cylinder engine has the innovative new SI-DRIVE (SUBARU Intelligent Drive)* to combine fluid, silky driving pleasure and economy. Both 2.0 and 3.0-litre powerplants are also smooth, with minimal vibration, giving turbine-like rev build-up and a wide power band throughout.
*Standard on the 3.0-litre AT and MT models

SUBARU BOXER 3.0-litre DOHC engine

Compact and lightweight, despite its 6 cylinders, this perfectly balanced, low-mounted engine delivers 180 kW (245 PS). The direct, variable valve-lifting system coupled with the Active Valve Control System (variable valve timing system) lets revs rise smoothly right across the range with less vibration and a rich vein of torque all the way. Coupled with SI-DRIVE, it lets you choose from 3 engine operation modes.

SUBARU BOXER 2.0-litre DOHC engine

With its DOHC mechanism and Active Valve Control System (AVCS) this Horizontally-Opposed Engine promises sweet revving and responsiveness balanced with the free-breathing 4-2-1 equal length, constant pulsation exhaust. That doesn't just give seamless linear acceleration, but also adds to the sound of the SUBARU BOXER's rich engine note.
