Kenyans struggle in Rally of Tanzania Alliance / Kobil / KCB Rally of Tanzania

Anwar siblings, Asad and Azar retired with engine failure on the opening day of the Kobil Rally of Tanzania as compatriot Don Smith came out the highest placed Kenyan driver.

 

The Dar es Salaam based rally which was the opening round of the newly established East Africa Rally Challenge and the African Rally Championship ended on Sunday. Smith who teamed up with his wife Sonel Smith in a Subaru came home 10th overall as Zambia s two-time African Champions crew of Muna Singh and David Sihoka streed their Subaru Impreza to victory in the Tanzanian round. They clocked 2hours 28.15 seconds.

Singh led the Rally of Tanzania after Stage 5 by 5min 30 seconds from surprise new youngster Jas Mangat from Ugandan who teamed up with Kenyan co-driver Kashif Sheikh.
