Safety

Safety That Never Sleeps

Confidence starts with smart engineering—and the all-new Outback is designed to look out for you from every angle. The latest generation of EyeSight* Driver Assist Technology helps detect hazards sooner, while the Subaru Global Platform and Full Inner Frame Structure create a strong base to help absorb impact and protect everyone inside. Whether avoiding danger or reducing its effects, the Outback puts safety at the heart of every journey.

* EyeSight is a driving support system which may not operate optimally under all driving conditions. The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving and observance of traffic regulations. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as vehicle maintenance, weather, and road conditions. See Owner’s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations for EyeSight including functions in this brochure.

PRIMARY

Outstanding visibility, optimal driving position, and intuitive controls help keep you safe from the moment you enter your vehicle.

Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH)

See better around corners in the dark for safer nighttime driving. These headlights turn with steering input to aim your lights in the direction your vehicle is turning.

High Visibility

Engineered for safety, the all-new Outback prioritises improved visibility in real-world driving scenarios. Clearer sightlines help spot obstructions early, providing peace of mind on every journey.

Automatic Anti-dazzle Rear View Mirror*

The mirror dims automatically when bright headlights are detected from behind, reducing glare and helping you see the road more comfortably during night driving.

* Available only on the Touring model.

ACTIVE

Core technologies like Symmetrical AWD and Subaru Global Platform allow precise control of the basic elements of driving—driving, turning, and braking.

Active Torque Vectoring

Enhances handling during turns by applying brakes to the inner wheels and redistributing drive power to the outer wheels for smoother and more precise manoeuvring.

Vehicle Dynamics Control System

Limits unstable vehicle behaviour like lateral slip by monitoring and adjusting wheel braking and engine torque, for precise control on the road.
<sg-lang1>Auto Vehicle Hold</sg-lang1><sg-lang2></sg-lang2><sg-lang3></sg-lang3>

Auto Vehicle Hold

Keeps your vehicle stationary without requiring the brake pedal, reducing driver fatigue in traffic or on slopes. The switch is positioned on the centre console for easy access.

PREVENTIVE

Advanced safety technologies such as EyeSight* helps avoid collisions before they happen.

Acceleration Override Assist*¹

If an obstacle is detected ahead and the accelerator is pressed sharply, Acceleration Override Assist suppresses engine output and alerts the driver with a warning buzzer and flashing indicator. If the risk remains, the Pre-Collision Braking System*² can apply the brakes to help avoid or reduce an impact.

Emergency Driving Stop System

Can automatically bring the vehicle to a complete stop when it detects a prolonged period without steering input by the driver, indicating a potential emergency situation. This helps prevent collisions and supports the safety of both occupants and others on the road.

Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD)

Radar sensors detect objects, swiftly alerting the driver with LED indicators and warning sounds for enhanced safety.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB)

Detects obstacles while reversing, alerting the driver with a buzzer and flashing indicator and can apply brakes if necessary to prevent collisions.

*1 This function is active only at low driving speeds.
*2 Pre-Collision Braking System may not work in all situations. Depending on the speed difference from objects, the object's height, and other conditions, every situation may not meet the necessary conditions for EyeSight to work optimally.

PASSIVE

Designed to keep you safe in the event of a collision with features such as the cabin-protecting engine layout, Subaru Global Platform, and SRS* airbags.

<sg-lang1>Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)* Airbags</sg-lang1><sg-lang2></sg-lang2><sg-lang3></sg-lang3>

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)* Airbags

The all-new Outback enhances protection with advanced safety features, including a passenger seat cushion SRS* airbag for improved frontal collision safety. With eight airbags in total, it’s designed to help keep you and your passengers safe.
<sg-lang1>Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame</sg-lang1><sg-lang2></sg-lang2><sg-lang3></sg-lang3>

Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame

Protects the cabin area with structurally redesigned high-tensile steel panels for better collision impact energy absorption from all directions.
* SRS: Supplemental Restraint System. Effective when used in conjunction with seatbelts.
The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving and observance of traffic regulations. Please do not depend solely on these safety features for safe driving.
There are limitations to the features of this system. See Owner’s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. Please ask your retailer for more details.
